Harold Lloyd
April 20, 1893 - March 8, 1971
One of the trinity of silent godfathers of early film comedy, Harold Lloyd combined the spunk of Charlie Chaplin’s Little Tramp with the physical daring of Buster Keaton. His best-known film, Safety Last! (1923), contains one of silent film’s indelible images: Lloyd’s bespectacled, boater-hatted character, high above the city, hangs flailing from the face of a clock.
